Photo Book - Bark

Bark is a handmade, case-bound photo book featuring images created at the New York Botanical Garden between 2019 and 2021. Blending graphic tree structures and luminous blossoms with occasional upended orientations, the work approaches the garden with a street photographer’s eye—alert to line, shape, color, and gesture. Though gardens are carefully planned and cultivated, here they feel alive and kinetic, pulsing with nature’s cycles of growth, decay, and renewal.
Photographed each weekend with a Fuji X100F in a quiet, meditative rhythm, the series reflects both observation and memory. The book’s shifting orientations and deliberate sequencing mirror life’s tension and movement, its moments of melancholy and wonder.
